Expert Tips for Perfect Pork & Tofu Enchiladas
1. Use Lean Ground Pork for a Healthier Enchilada Recipe
Lean ground pork creates a lighter, high-protein enchilada filling while still delivering rich, savory flavor.
2. Drain Tofu Well for the Best Texture
Removing excess moisture from tofu helps prevent watery enchiladas and creates a firm, satisfying filling.
3. Warm Tortillas Before Rolling
Softening tortillas makes them easier to roll and prevents cracking, giving you perfect baked enchiladas every time.
4. Add Sauce to the Bottom of the Baking Dish
Spread a thin layer of enchilada sauce on the bottom to prevent sticking and create extra flavorful, saucy enchiladas.
5. Don’t Overfill the Tortillas
Use about 2–3 tablespoons of filling for easy-to-roll enchiladas that hold together beautifully.
6. Use Freshly Shredded Cheese for Better Melting
Fresh cheese melts smoother and creates a creamy, cheesy enchilada topping.
7. Let Enchiladas Rest Before Serving
Allowing the dish to sit for 5–10 minutes helps the filling set for clean slices and better presentation.
8. Make Ahead for an Easy Weeknight Dinner
Assemble ahead of time and refrigerate for a quick, make-ahead family dinner.
9. Freeze for Meal Prep and Batch Cooking
These freezer-friendly enchiladas are perfect for meal prep and busy schedules.
10. Add Fresh Garnishes for Extra Flavor
Top with cilantro, green onions, sour cream, or avocado for a restaurant-style enchilada recipe.
