This Steamed Pork Wonton Lasagna is a fun twist on classic comfort food, with tender wonton wrappers layered with savoury pork filling for a soft, satisfying texture. It has all the cozy appeal of a layered casserole, but the steamed wontons keep it lighter and a little different from traditional lasagna.

Tender Steamed Wonton Layers with Savoury Pork

This Steamed Pork Wonton Lasagna is made with soft wonton layers and a savoury pork filling, finished with sauce, green onions and chili crisp. The texture is tender and almost silky, with a little heat and freshness on top.

Why This Wonton Lasagna Works So Well

The steamed wonton wrappers stay soft and delicate, which makes the whole dish feel lighter than a baked pasta casserole. I like the contrast between the tender layers, rich pork filling and that little bit of chili crisp on top. It gives every bite more texture and flavour.

Perfect for a Cozy Dinner or Something a Little Different

Serve this Steamed Pork Wonton Lasagna when you want a comforting dinner that feels a little unexpected. It works well for a casual family meal, a weekend dinner or anytime you’re craving savoury wonton flavours without making individual dumplings.

Main Steps for Wonton Lasagna

Fresh Vegetables Add Colour and Texture

For this Steamed Pork Wonton Lasagna, the shredded carrots, fresh ginger, corn and leafy greens add freshness and a nice mix of colour and texture to the dish. The vegetables help balance the richer pork filling and soft wonton layers without making the recipe feel heavy.

I like prepping the carrots and ginger first because they’re easy to have ready ahead of time. The corn and greens only need gentle cooking, so they keep more of their colour and give the finished steamed pork wonton lasagna a fresher bite.

Savoury Pork Filling with Vegetables

The filling for this Steamed Pork Wonton Lasagna combines ground pork with corn, greens, shredded carrot and seasonings for a savoury, colourful mixture with plenty of texture. Once everything is mixed together, the filling becomes evenly seasoned and ready to layer with the wonton wrappers.

I like mixing it thoroughly so the vegetables are spread through the pork instead of sitting in pockets. That gives each layer a better balance of meat, vegetables and flavour.

Layer the Pork Filling Evenly Between the Wonton Wrappers

For this Steamed Pork Wonton Lasagna, spread the pork and vegetable filling in an even layer before adding the next wonton wrapper. Keeping the filling fairly level helps the layers cook more evenly and gives you a better balance of pork, vegetables and tender wonton in every bite.

I like pressing the filling out gently toward the edges rather than piling it in the centre. It makes the finished steamed pork wonton lasagna easier to serve and keeps the layers from becoming too thick in one spot.

Tips for the Best Steamed Pork Wonton Lasagna

• Spread the filling evenly. Keep each pork and vegetable layer fairly level so the Steamed Pork Wonton Lasagnacooks evenly from edge to centre.

• Don’t overfill the layers. Too much filling can make the wonton layers bulky and harder to steam through. Thin, even layers work better.

• Keep the wonton wrappers flat. Smooth them gently over the filling so they make good contact and soften evenly during steaming.

• Use individual dishes if possible. Smaller dishes help the wonton lasagna steam more evenly and make serving much easier.

• Cover while steaming. Keeping the steamer covered traps the heat and moisture needed to soften the wonton wrappers and cook the pork filling properly.

• Check the centre before serving. The pork filling in the middle should be fully cooked, not just the edges.

• Let it sit briefly after steaming. A few minutes of resting helps the layers settle and makes the steamed pork wonton lasagna easier to serve.

• Add toppings at the end. Green onions, savoury sauce and chili crisp are best added after steaming so they stay fresh and give the finished dish more texture and flavour.

Real Kitchen Tip: Keep the Wonton Layers Thin and Even

For the best Steamed Pork Wonton Lasagna, spread the pork filling in a fairly thin, even layer before adding each wonton wrapper. Thick pockets of filling take longer to cook and can make the layers feel heavy.

I like smoothing the filling right out toward the edges. It helps the wonton wrappers soften evenly during steaming and gives you a better balance of tender wrapper and savoury pork in every bite.

  • For the best Steamed Pork Wonton Layer Bowls, always drain vegetables well and steam at a gentle simmer to lock in juicy, flavorful layers and achieve perfect restaurant-style Asian comfort food at home.

Notes

  • Drain vegetables thoroughly (especially spinach) to prevent excess moisture and ensure firm, layered wonton bowls.
  • Do not overfill ramekins—thin, even layers help the pork steam evenly and keep a stable structure.
  • Use fresh garlic and ginger for the most authentic bold Asian-inspired flavor and aroma.
  • Lightly oil ramekins or use parchment liners for easy removal after steaming.
  • Steam at a steady simmer to maintain juicy texture and prevent overcooking the pork filling.
  • Let rest before serving so the layers set for clean, sliceable wonton “lasagna” texture.
  • Adjust chili sauce to taste for a customizable sweet, savory, and spicy heat level.
  • Great for meal prep—flavors deepen after resting in the fridge overnight.
  • Best served fresh but reheats well when gently steamed or microwaved with a splash of water.
  • Highly versatile recipe—easy to swap proteins or add extra vegetables for a healthier variation.
